Wrestling fanatics have something to look forward to with the upcoming WrestleMania 36, which is slated for April 5th at the Raymond James Stadium in Florida. It was revealed early from WWE insiders that John Cena would return to the WWE to compete against Elias. Wrestling Observer Radio also noted that AJ Styles would take on the Undertaker. These announcements follow after it was confirmed that Cena, a 16-time world champion, would appear at SmackDown on February 28th.
Following this announcements confirmation through Vince McMahon’s WWE, it’ll mark the first instance that John Cena has wrestled since 2019. It’s the most extended break he’s experienced since becoming a professional Hollywood actor. Supporters of the WWE are excited by the thought of Elias & Cena competing against each other. Their rivalry extends multiple years in the WWE, with the two men competing last at WrestleMania 34. John Cena was fighting the Undertaker before Elias attacked both men. It took John Cena to partner with Bobby Lashley at Super Show-Down 2019 to defeat Elias. They’d meet up again at WrestleMania 25, where John Cena would interrupt a special concert held by Elias.
Fans aren’t just thrilled at the prospect of John Cena and Elias competing against each other. They are also excited at the idea of AJ Styles and The Undertaker fighting at WrestleMania. It’d mark the most significant battle that the WWE has witnessed in decades, with the Undertaker avoiding his first WrestleMania last year. The Undertaker was last seen at Madison Square Garden for SmackDown, where he won his final match for 15+ months.
It should be noted that The Undertaker could always compete against another opponent at WrestleMania 36. There’s still the chance that AJ Styles won’t have his shoulder injury healed before this event. WWE Analysts expect that Elias would lose his fight against John Cena, which would be replaced with the Undertaker. The Phenomenal One losing his ability to appear at WrestleMania 36 would indicate the slow decline of AJ Styles.
John Cena’s Acting Career
Wrestling fans were disappointed when John Cena disappeared from the annual WWE calendar. This followed after his acting career slowly began to take off, similar in fashion to The Rock. After a substantial feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, John Cena is taking the role of the latest villain turned friend in “Fast and Furious Nine”. It’s expected that this role will turn him into a B-List to A-List actor moving forward, which means zero wrestling for Cena.
